Preamble: The NIC District Unit, Seoni (M.P.) started its Informatics Support to District Administration during September 1989. The NIC District Co-ordination Committee(NDCC) was formed in  June 1990 with the collector as Chairman, District Informatics Officer as the Member Secretary, and other Heads of Departments as members for effective functional co-ordination between NIC and various Departments.

                      Objectives: The main objectives of this District Unit of NIC are:

• Implementation/Development of locally/centrally developed software.

• Development of necessary and appropriate information systems/ databases in various sector.

• Promoting Informatics culture at District level.

• Improving the analysis capacity and quality presentation of statistics utilized for   decision making/district planning.

• Ensuring reliable, timely and accurate information flow through NICNET.

• Providing extensive training/re-training to Govt. Personnel and NIC Users.

Infrastructure: The District Unit is equipped with Pentium-IV/III m/c(Server upto 1 GB RAM while clients with 256 KB RAM), OS like Windows 2000 Prof/Server, Windows 2003 Server, Linux Red Hat etc., Laser/DMP Printers, RASFinder for dial-up connectivity, DirectWay-4020 VSAT with 8/32 Kbps Speed & Lease Line with 2 mbps connectivity, DAMA Based Video conferencing facility generally with 256 Kbps speed.

                             Achievements :

• Video Conferencing  facility is operational since  October-2004. Most of the government departments are reviewing their schemes on weekly basis   using VC facility.

• LAN has been established at  Collectorate Campus. Collector’s chamber, Additional  Collector’s chamber, District Treasury, Public Grievance Cell, SDM Seoni's chamber, SDM Barghat's chamber, Khanij dept. and Land Record dept. has been connected with LAN.  

• Touch Screen Kiosk is installed at Public Grievance Cell with Parakh data link, Public Grievance Site link, Voter list and other important information   has been provided.

• NIC offer services in various areas of System Analysis, Design and Development of the software, providing Technical coordination for software and hardware requirements, as well as web designing, development and hosting.

• NICNET/NICMAIL Service has been extended to various Govt. Departments  for timely transmission of data/reports. As per the MOU signed by the NIC MP State Unit  & various MP Govt. Departments, this District Unit has provided  the Dial-up connectivity various offices. About 40 users availing this facility.

• Election  MIS implemented in  Lok Sabha Elections/ Assembly Elections which includes Nomination, Polling, Counting and Results process .

Major projects have been Implemented/developed:

MNREGA  is operational in all Blocks/Gram Panchayats.

Parakh Programme, Monthly collection of basic amenities data upto village level.This is a M.P. State Govt. project.

Agmarknet  is operational   in Krishi Upaj Mandi Seoni, Barghat, Keolari, Lakhnadon & Ghansour which helps the farmers to  know the price of  other mandi  as well as daily transmission of mandi data.

Land Record S/W BhuAbhilekh 3.0 has been implemented in all Seven tehsils of the district which is being used primarily for  Khasra and B-1 reports.

Community Needs Assessment Approach (CNAA) has been implemented in District Hospital , Seoni.

Election  MIS implemented in  Lok Sabha Elections/ Assembly Elections which includes Nomination, Polling, Counting and Results process .

ICDS of Women & Child Development, Seoni.

Samadhan One day Programme.

ChRIS(Child Record Information System) is an E-Governance program to identify, register, count and monitor every marriage, pregnancy, child birth taking place in Seoni District.

Office automation packages like “Time limit Paper-Monitoring System and Pay-roll”  are operational . The Time Limit Papers-Monitoring System helps the Collector to  keep track of action taken/time taken by various officers on time limit works. Online follow ups entered by the HOD's.  Computer Based Payroll  for deptt. Like Collectorate , Food etc.

MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) is being  used by the District Planning Office to monitor M.P.’s works.

Public Distribution Management System (PDMS) is operational in  Food Office. Food deptt. sending monthly FPS data, Month wise data is available on Food Deptt. Website.

District Informatics Centre Information of Holistic Achievement (DISHA)  provides  the information regarding the activities /s/w implementation/ achievements   etc. of District Unit.

Web based Crime Information System to compile and analyse the details of crimes  reported by various police stations.

e-Khanij : Information System for Mineral Resources Department.

e-Scholarship :Is an Online solution for awarding scholarship to deserving students.

Maintaining attendance of collectorate employee's by Biometric thumb machine.

                       Training  Programme:

NIC District Unit Seoni conducted training programmes for the Govt. employees of different departments so as to enable them to work on computers for their own work. So far , personnel from Collectorate, Food Office, Krishi Upaj Mandi, Seoni, PHED, PWD, Industry, Irrigation, Land Record, Agriculture, Health Deptt., RRDA, DRDA etc. have been trained in concerned S/W packages, NICMAIL and  different Applications.
